I wished I had already got home. The way from Dollis Hill station was not too far from my home. But as I stepped out into the dark night the freeze of the autumn cold immediately got through my clothes and had reached my muscles and it was going to get my bones. I made my steps faster. I couldn’t bear the cold. It was as unfriendly as the dark windows of the houses on Hamilton Park road and the deserted dead silence of Willesden. I turned the corner and I saw my two-floor-house at the end of the street which was one of featureless terraced house just like any typical Victorian house in this city. But it was my rent. Although I rent the room with Teri, one of my friends and I had to bear all the nuisance of sharing the kitchen and the bathroom with other nine Hungarians after all it was my home.
The room, in which Teri was sleeping, was totally dark. I closed the door in quietly carefully minding not to wake up my roommate. If I had done I would have disturb her night rest and also I could not devote myself immediately for the enjoyment which was already on its way. I was lucky. Teri was sleeping with deep breaths without any sign or movement getting awake. I hurried up to my computer which was lying on the most perfect computer desk that had ever been discovered. It lay on the ironing board between the printer and loud speakers and my stuff totally covered the board’s surface as if it would have been designed for them. The seat was a perfect executive armchair finding in the street throwing out. The few holes on drape couldn’t have seen because I covered with my beautiful red-black towel which made a gorgeous invitation for me to sit down. I turned my computer on first, giving some time for the Windows to set up, while I took my coat off in the faint light of the screen. I sat down in front of the computer. The mixed feelings of satisfaction and excitement were pulsing in my veins as I had got on the Skype the chat site on the Internet. After my tiring day it could begin my social life.

I wish I knew English like you Panka.
Willesden with some signs of the old brave past. Then more neglected they are the more miserable they are.
The dirty narrow stained roads, black bags, black blokes with drank eyes. Even in the sunny days Willesden can’t look brighter. I wish I was far away sitting on the beach, listening to waves, looking on the endless sky. Willesden is the best place to learn that the endless sky and the absolute silence and purity is more closer to us and even more. It is inside us.

I hope you did not think to praise me as a gibe.
We both know well your English is much better than mine. The power that comes from your lines transmits deep thoughts expressed by fine crafts of phrases.

But forgive me that I published a part of my homework. I’ve been here for four months and every day has still been a new experience or a new challenge for me with English. I am playing with the English words like a young child who has just gained a new ability and he is trying it out continuously as many ways he can.
And I also thought that it could be interesting to read how we felt and lived through far away from our family and mother country.

Finally, and especially for those of you who've never been to
one of the Meetups before, just tell you that all levels are

basic conversation in Greek (or be willing to listen, learn
and participate when confident enough). Ask for me when you
arrive if you don't know anyone and I'll be glad to introduce
you to some people.
